Spartans and ANZACs

Until April 2027, the Shrine of Rememberance, Melbourne, is hosting a moving exhibition linked by location.

The exhibition reflects on the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC, between Spartan/Greek forces and the Persian army, and the desperate rear-guard action by ANZAC troops in April 1941 against the German forces on the same ground.

This exhibition invites reflection on the enduring values forged in conflict—and how these stories continue to shape the meaning of remembrance today.

Located in the Galleries of Rememberance, entry is free.
